Features:
1. After blood is drawn from the human body, red blood cells and white blood cells will continue to consume glucose (glycolysis). Sodium fluoride can inhibit the activity of enolase, blocking sugar metabolism. It can keep the blood glucose level stable at room temperature for 48-72 hours, ensuring that the value does not decrease during the process of being sent to the laboratory for testing.
2. Potassium oxalate forms calcium oxalate precipitate by binding with calcium ions in the blood, thereby blocking the coagulation process and keeping the blood in a liquid state.
3. After blood collection, it should be gently inverted and mixed 8-10 times immediately. If the mixing is not sufficient, local blood may coagulate, or sodium fluoride may not be able to inhibit the sugar metabolism of all cells in time.
4. Since potassium oxalate and sodium fluoride can interfere with many enzymatic reactions and electrolytes (causing potassium to rise and calcium to drop), they must be placed at the end of the blood collection sequence (or close to the end).
5. Due to the interference of the additives, it cannot be used for blood cell count, platelet function tests, and the determination of potassium, calcium, urea (urease method), alkaline phosphatase, and amylase, etc.
6. The advantage of the combination of potassium oxalate and sodium fluoride is "rapid anticoagulation + long-term stable blood glucose". Sodium fluoride can inhibit glycolysis (preventing glucose in the blood from being decomposed by red blood cells), keeping the blood glucose level stable for a relatively long time after collection.
